woof. I am running out of steam
hello! Things are pretty quiet around here, just keeping an eye on the lambs and mommas and making sure our bottle babies are fed. We are waiting on one ewe to lamb - which according to the calendar should be by tomorrow, but she is holding out. We are worn out from the cumulative sleep deprivation of the last month. I don't know how Chris is still standing since he does not partake in my late afternoon naps. I think he just has different sleep requirements than I do. I am unable to relax like a normal human and need to actually be asleep in order to stop compiling lists of things I need to do or research. Sometimes even sleep doesn't stop me.
I have been trying to keep up on the vlogs over on my YouTube channel and I'll continue to post them here, I'm just behind a bit. One thing that has been a shock to me in trying this new medium is how quickly I needed tech support. I quickly outgrew the data availability that Wordpress offered in my plan (I could have upgraded for an additional expense), and then I outgrew our cloud storage. Most recently I outgrew the storage capacity of my fairly powerful computer and moved all of my video clips into the cloud. It turns out that the editing software doesn't talk to the cloud? So that caused a couple of days delay in figuring out what was causing that problem and how to fix it. I think I'm on the right path now, but I'm sure something else will come up soon that I will have to figure out.
I have been spending some time recently with my mother who is... I want to say this with love, STUBBORN. She does not appreciate being pressured to learn anything new. I don't really blame her, we all like our own ideas best, but I do feel that it's important to be able to use new technology in order to participate in the culture as we age. Obviously I'm a very spry 29 year old with suspiciously creaky knees so this is not an issue... OK, the knees are reflective of a full 48 years of an adventurous (reckless?) lifestyle and I feel like I'm definitely falling behind in terms of not knowing about what college-aged people are up to. To be clear, I don't want to do what they are doing, I just want to know about it in case there's something there that is useful or entertaining. Anyway, this vlogging adventure is good for me, getting my brain working in different ways, and forcing me to learn new things. And particularly, things that I wouldn't typically find interesting - like data storage and video editing.
I thought I would share some photos here of the lambing season and of course if you have the time and the inclination, check out the vlogs!

I don't have the option of including captions using this photo format, but I wanted to point out a couple of things. These are photos from April 2024, so the beginning of the garden season and the beginning of lambing season. In addition to all of the ewe and lamb photos, I've included our sleeping asparagus bed, like a coiled spring, ready to give us a half pound of asparagus PER DAY! And also, in the lower left, our first set of triplets EVER.
